THE DAINTONS
MUSIC HALL ACT
'The Daintons' were a Music Hall Act during the early 1900s which comprised Arthur George DOVASTON and his wife, Eve Laura HUNT.
Arthur was born in 1865 in Clerkenwell, London, the son of John DOVASTON and Sarah Ann LESTER. Eve was born in 1879 in Yarmouth, Norfolk, the daughter of John H HUNT & his wife, Charlotte. They met whilst performing in a travelling version of the Pantomime, 'Cinderella'. Eve was the Fairy Godmother and Arthur, a stand-up comedian in the same show. They joined forces to become 'The Daintons', an act in which they sang, danced and performed comedy sketches, travelling all over the British Isles for over 20 years.
They married in 1898 and despite continuing to 'tread the boards', Eve had 6 children, all born in London. After Arthur's death in London in 1940, Eve emigrated to America to live with her daughter, Kathleen. She died in Brooklyn in 1974.
I have scoured the Internet to find anymore information on the Daintons, but have been unable to find anything. I would be very grateful for anymore details.
