I have been researching the surname DOVASTON for
well over ten years. The main family tree now contains several hundred names. There are other smaller branches not yet linked to the main trunk. There are hundreds of twigs, many of whom are probably listed elsewhere in the tree. The one common element is that all lines
seem to eventually lead back to North East Shropshire. I am convinced we are all descended from one person.
There are several different pronunciations but true variations in the spelling of the surname did not appear until the late 1800s. These seem to be DOVESTON, DOVEASTON, DOVINSON & DOVESON.
The name can appear with a variety of spellings in official documents. So far I have found 38!

Many hours have been put into the research of these
family trees, not necessarily by me!
I gratefully acknowledge all the help I have received.
I may have further details I have not yet uploaded
and am always eager to add to, amend or
verify what I do have.
Much of the information is, as yet, unchecked against original sources.
I therefore make no guarantees as to the accuracy of any of the data.
